Areas of Teaching and Research

The Centre for the Study of Democratic Institutions (CSDI), housed within the department, provides a focal point for departmental events and discussions on questions of democracy, which connects scholars in the fields of both comparative politics and political theory. The Department has highly regarded expertise in the area of international relations. Department faculty are affiliated with the UBC Center of International Relations, at the Liu Institute for Global Issues. The department has ongoing relationships with the Institute of Asian Research, and the Institute for Resources, Environment, and Sustainability.
